A Westfield staple

Old-fashioned craftsmanship, a modern eye.

No two people are built alike, so we don't believe in one-size-fits-all tailoring. Every garment that comes through our door on Elm Street gets measured, pinned and finished with care, from a first prom suit to a wedding gown or the work blazer you wear every week.

Some clients have trusted us for decades, and some are walking in for the first time. All of them are treated like neighbors, because in Westfield that's exactly who they are.

Alterations for every garment

We alter everything from everyday clothes to high-end formalwear, accurately and on time. Whether it's a hem shortened, a waist taken in or sleeves adjusted, we treat every job with the same care.

  • Hems, waists, sleeves and tapering
  • Jackets re-cut for a modern silhouette
  • Emergency and rush alterations
  • Delicate silks, beading and structured wool

The tailor's fit guide

Does your suit really fit?

Most men wear suits that don't quite fit and never know it. Tap a number on the photo, or below, to see what we look for at every fitting.

  1. The shoulder seam should end where your shoulder does. Look out for divots, pulling or padding that hangs past the arm. Shoulders are the hardest part to alter, so we always start here.

  2. The jacket collar should sit flat against your shirt collar with no gap at the back of the neck, and about half an inch of shirt collar should show above it.

  3. Lapels should lie flat and in proportion to your frame. A pocket square or boutonnière should finish the look without overpowering it. This is where personality comes in.

  4. When the jacket is buttoned there should be no X-shaped pulling across the front. A well-shaped waist flatters every build without restricting how you move.

  5. About a quarter to half an inch of shirt cuff should show past the jacket sleeve. It's one of the simplest alterations and one of the most noticeable.

  6. Trousers that pool at the ankle add years and pounds. Whether you like no break, a slight break or a full break, the hem should fall cleanly over the shoe.

I brought him an old suit that was both too baggy and too small. He not only tailored it to fit, but even updated the style.
